I am so excited to be able to share my love of books with an audience. I have loved books my entire life. I can remember riding my bike to the community library when I was a child and sitting in the aisles reading until I was told the library was closing. I loved Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden, Little House on the Prairie. My favourite book as a child was the Princess Bride. It captivated me and my imagination. That’s what I love about books…they have to power to transport you and take you away to another time and place.
Books had such an impact on me that I studied to become a teacher. My principal recognized my love of books and urged me to pursue further education and become a librarian.
So that is where I am today. My children are teenagers, and so I have time to recommit to my love of reading. I can devour books in no time and I get so excited when I am finished a book that I have thoroughly enjoyed.
I started writing reviews on GoodReads and I still do. But then I joined NetGalley which provides free copies of books for “professional readers”. I was encouraged to start a blog, to share my opinions.
I decided this would be a good use of my free time, since a deeply care about books and want to share my thoughts. Some books are great and when I find one, I want to shout it from the mountain tops. Some books are…well… not for me, and it is probably important to share that as well.
So I will continue to read books at my pace. I am still teaching full time, so I don’t have a lot of free time. When I finish a book..good or bad… I will blog about it, and as I become more tech-savvy, my blogs will hopfully become more interesting…..Baby steps for now..
So Join me on my journey to finding books that capture our imagination and our hearts!
