What Hurts the Most by Willow Rose

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I just finished a really good book, “What hurts the Most”, by Willow Rose. It is the first in a series which explains the ending ALOT…

This story is about a young woman named Mary who is very likeable and appealing to the reader. Mary lives in New York as a single mom newly separated. She is forced to go to Florida, her childhood home to solve a mystery, but in so doing has also to face the demons of her own troubled past…including a damaged relationship with her father.

Mary encounters a mystery that has ties with the past she is running away from. She must rely on her own instinct as well as her old friends to find justice for herself and for her family. BUT…. all is not what it seems and at the end there is a GIANT twist. At first my reaction was…WHAT!!!!! But then when I read that the author is beginning a series on the adventures of Mary, I though, brilliant! Now I want to read more of course, because I like Mary and I want to find out what she does next.

A crafty book, well-written and well paced. There were alot of characters introduced in this story, so I hope that they are not all featured in the next story. It was hard to keep track of all the names, but now I understand why… future characters for future books. Alot of potential drama was introduced in this book that could play out in future stories. The author did a great job of creating well-liked and relateable characters that the readers want to know more about. Plus, there is an excellent villain in the GENERAL dah…dah…dah…

I recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of this genre. Thanks you to Net Galley for providing me with a free copy of this book. Happy Reading everyone!
